The Scoop Theatre returns for another season of dramatics and theatrics on South Bank, presenting exclusive open air productions for Londoners to enjoy. Expect balmy summer evenings of live theatre in July, August and September 2009.
Free theatre at The ScoopFree performances will be taking place at The Scoop from the end of July, throughout August and into September 2009, continuing a season of free entertainment at the famous London amphitheatre. Coinciding with a full programme of film screenings and live music as part of the More London Free Festival at The Scoop this year, the theatre season is expected to be just as popular; a definite highlight on London’s theatre calendar.
Exclusive theatreA new programme of live theatre features a showing of a specially commissioned translater of Euripides by Stella Duffy, and a different take on Jason and the Argonauts for a family audience. Retelling the classic tale of revenge, Meda by Stella Duffy asks what happened next between the adult King Jason and Medea. A new lively family musical version of the Greek myth, Jason and the Argonauts incorporates comedy, songs, puppetry and a bit of science too, offering a unique family treat.
Fun and festivities at South BankThe Scoop amphitheatre will be alive with festivities throughout the theatre season, with regular performances of the two shows. The crowds will be out in force to enjoy live theatre in a lively, upbeat atmosphere, bringing the magic of the stage out into the open.
New for 2009Whether you’re an avid theatre fan or not you can enjoy a new outdoor theatre experience this summer, exclusive to The Scoop. Crowds of people will be out to enjoy live performances at what promises to be an animated series of theatre shows.
Performances of Jason and the Argonauts and Medea take place at The Scoop, South Bank, from Thursday 30th July - Sunday 6th September 2009.
