The Scoop
The Scoop Theatre returns for another season of dramatics and theatrics on the South Bank, presenting exclusive open air productions for Londoners to enjoy. Expect balmy summer evenings of live theatre in August and September 2011.
Free theatre at The Scoop
Free performances will be taking place at The Scoop throughout August and into September 2011, continuing a season of free entertainment at the famous London amphitheatre. Coinciding with a full programme of film screenings and live music as part of the More London Free Festival at The Scoop this year, the theatre season is expected to be just as popular; a definite highlight on London’s theatre calendar.
Exclusive theatre
A new programme of live theatre features a showing of a specially commissioned adaptation of Around the World in Eighty Days story by Jules Verne for a family audience, and a retelling of the classic Bertolt Brecht play The Mother. Retelling the classic tale of Phileas Fogg and his travels around the world, Around the World in Eighty Days is a new lively family show that incorporates comedy, puppetry and a bit of audience participation too, offering a unique family treat.
Fun and festivities at South Bank
The Scoop amphitheatre will be alive with festivities throughout the theatre season, with regular performances of the two shows. The crowds will be out in force to enjoy live theatre in a lively, upbeat atmosphere, bringing the magic of the stage out into the open.
New for 2011
Whether you’re an avid theatre fan or not you can enjoy a new outdoor theatre experience this summer, exclusive to The Scoop. Crowds of people will be out to enjoy live performances at what promises to be an animated series of theatre shows.
Performances of the two plays take place from 6pm - 7.15pm Thursdays - Sundays at The Scoop, South Bank, from 4th August - 4th September 2011. The Scoop Theatre is free to attend.
