The Tempest at Roundhouse

Make the most of the World Shakespeare Festival with a special production of The Tempest at Roundhouse, when The Bard's classic tale of usurped dukes, shipwrecks and magical spirits arrives in Camden.

Royal Shakespeare Company
A special production by the Royal Shakespeare Company, the performances of The Tempest at Roundhouse are part of a series of plays taking place at the acclaimed Camden arts venue as well as theatres across the city, as part of the World Shakespeare Festival. The festival coincides with the London 2012 Festival, which celebrates the UK's cultural and artistic output in the run up to the Olympic Games.

Revenge and redemption
Set on a remote island peopled by the ousted Duke of Milan, Prospero, and his daughter Miranda, the production of The Tempest at Roundhouse takes the audience on a magical journey encompassing everything from the desire for revenge to compassion and eventual forgiveness. Other instantly recognizable characters in the play include the spirit Ariel and the slave Caliban, son of the powerful witch Sycorax.

Roundhouse Shakespeare season
Directed by Michael Boyd and with designs by Tom Piper, the production of The Tempest at Roundhouse is bound to be popular with theatre goers and Shakespeare fans. Other plays appearing at The Roundhouse in 2012 include The Comedy of Errors, Twelfth Night and Two Roses for Richard III, which blends Shakespeare's words with aerial displays and circus acts.
