Whats On
The centenary of the sinking of the Titanic takes place on 15th April 2012, and to commemorate this landmark Titanic anniversary, London institutions such as the National Maritime Museum and the BFI Southbank are hosting a series of special events. Over 1,500 people died when the passenger liner struck an iceberg and sank into the icy Atlantic ocean on her maiden voyage, and the international grief and outrage of the loss of life still resonates in our popular culture 100 years after the tragedy.

100th anniversary
Events taking place in London to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic include a special film retrospective which charts the almost mythical status the disaster has since achieved on screen. Music lovers can also hear a classical work created by Robin and RJ Gibb, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
