Too Many Critics returns for another fundraising event for Action Against Hunger as the tables are turned on the bane of chefs everywhere – the restaurant and food critics of the culinary world. After hiding behind their pens all year, Too Many Critics now puts the writers in the kitchen and on the frontline, and ready for a grilling from those they critique so bravely all year round.
The Too Many Critics fundraising event will see some of the top restaurant critics in the business grabbing their spatulas to create dishes to wow their new critics, the chefs themselves. Anyone who knows about critiquing restaurants will know you don’t actually have to be able to cook to serve up your opinion, but Too Many Critics will now put the writers in the kitchen, and the chefs will be licking their lips at the prospect of judging their plates.
As part of Action Against Hunger, and to celebrate the Fight Hunger, Eat Out campaign, Too Many Critics will pit some of the most well known and most highly respected critics against some of the best chefs in the business. The judging panel chomping at the bit will consist of Raymond Blanc, Ed Baines, Fergus Henderson and Shane Osborn, whilst those getting all hot and bothered in the kitchen include Bill Knott, Charles Campion, Tom Parker-Bowles, Jay Rayner and Matthew Fort.
All proceeds from ticket sales for this prestigious event will go directly to Action Against Hunger, one of the leading international organisations in the fight against hunger and malnutrition. Tickets will include a Taittinger Champagne reception, a four course dinner with wine, a rare breed pig tasting and stuffing competition as well as a raffle and auction to finish things off. So if you fancy seeing the critics getting a taste of their own medicine then pick up some tickets and pop along, safe in the knowledge your schadenfreude is for a very good cause indeed.
The Action Against Hunger fundraising event, Too Many Critics, takes place at The Royal Exchange at 6.30pm on Sunday 19th October 2008. To purchase tickets please email h.drummond@aahuk.org or call (020) 8293 6133. For more information please follow the link below.
