The Tour of Britain 2008 promises to be one of the biggest cycling events of the year, a multi stage UK cycle race culminating a new London route. Cycle fans will not want to miss the chance to see top competitors battle it out past landmark London locations in a thrilling race event.
Tour of Britain 2008Returning for another year of top flight cycling action, the Tour of Britain is a seriously prestigious race event in which the country’s cycling elite go for it over six days of gruelling riding. Sixteen teams will be pedalling for glory across six separate stages throughout the UK, starting with an exciting new route through London.
Cycling in LondonLondon will be centre stage for the final stages of the Tour of Britain race, including a selection of famous landmarks. The streets of London will be transformed into a complete race, with the London Grand Prix taking place on Victoria Embankment, Whitehall and Northumberland Avenue, and the race itself taking in a route that includes Big Ben and the Tower of London.
Join the crowdsCrowds will be out in force to see the cyclists go for it throughout the streets of London in what is guaranteed to be an exciting session of live racing. Londoners are invited to get in gear and show some support, before seeing the winner given the prestigious yellow jersey to wear on the rest of the Tour of Britain race around the country.
A day outThousands of Londoners will be out to show some support for the cyclists and see who has what it takes to win the Tour of Britain 2008. The final stage starts will see riders return to Victoria Embankment after their gruelling 10 laps around London. Spectators can watch the action from anywhere along the race route in a lively, charged atmosphere.

- 1.38pm - Upper Thames Street
- 1.40pm - Black Friars Bridge
- 1.42pm - Victoria Embankment
The race then continues around the same route for ten laps, with the race itself finishing adjacent the London Eye on Victoria Embankment at approximately 3.39pm.
The London stage of the Tour of Britain 2008 takes place on Sunday 7th September 2008, beginning starting and ending at Victoria Embankment, adjacent to the London Eye. The race is expected to end at roughly 3.40pm back at the start line.
