I went to the valentine's day evening at Tower Bridge. Full of excitement at something different to do, Romantic setting and anticipating a lovely evening so I was deeply disappointed with such a poorly organised event. Totally overcrowded, way too many couples allowed in at a time, one glass of champagne with a guy barking at everyone to stay away from the drinks table and shouting at his staff, soggy strawberries with the worst chocolate I have ever tasted. The heaters were on full blast unnecessarily and there were so many people there you could barely get a view out of the windows. Terribly disappointed as the venue is wonderful but completely ruined by the event.

My girlfriend and I were so looking forward to this, and even dressed up for the occasion, but what a rip-off. The 'champagne' tasted like cheap Cava, and the 'chocolates' were soggy coated strawberries. But worst of all was the overcrowding - totally killed the romance and the exclusive feel to it with feelings of being robbed. It was difficult to get to the sliding photo windows due to the sheer numbers of people also. The only consolation was my girlfriend said 'yes' when I proposed, (as I'd planned it and didn't want to wait any longer) but we were both left feeling it should've been somewhere more special, and less like a packed corridor in an airport terminal. We decided not to bother to register our engagement for the prize draw in the end. Had the organisers not been so greedy to make a quick buck and pack everyone in, it would've been good.

It's so true that Valentine's Day is so commercial now, plus it seems everything in London is designed to short-change you in some way these days. My advice is steer clear of events like these and do something random and spontaneous at some other time.
