The Tower of London keys ceremony is a long held tradition that takes place every night at this hugely important historic building. The keys ceremony has been a part of the Tower of Londons traditional duties for the last 700 years and has been executed without fail every day for that whole period of time.

Although the Monarch no longer resides at the Tower of London, many other valuables still do, including the impressive Crown Jewels which are famously on show in the tower. The Tower of London keys ceremony is an integral part of the normal running of the tower and therefore is a historic and traditional part of the culture of the city.

You can be a part of this important ceremony, by requesting permission from the Tower authorities themselves. As the keys ceremony is such an important part of the securing of the fortress, tickets are issued in advance and to a limited number for security reasons.

To request tickets for the Tower of London keys ceremony, you must write with the name of all attendees, including a stamped, self-addressed envelope, with two potential dates for your visit at least two months in advance. The applications must be posted to:

Ceremony of the Keys Office
Tower of London
LONDON, EC3N 4AB

Please note that groups are limited to a maximum of six persons between 1st April and 31st October inclusive. During the period 1st November to 31st March inclusive, groups will be limited to a maximum of fifteen persons.
