Trafalgar Square Village Green

Pack a picnic and put on your cricket whites, and head off down to the Trafalgar Square village green this May bank holiday weekend for a little bit of suburban bliss in the heart of London. With yards and yards of turf covering the most famous square in the city, the Trafalgar Square village green is open for business - or more accurately for lolling around and enjoying the green grass.

With around 2,000 square feet of grass covering the pavement of the square, the Trafalgar Square village green is set to become the biggest metropolis village green around. For the two days leading up to the bank holiday weekend, Londoners and tourists will be able to sit in a deck chair and feel that they are in the middle of a rural idyl as they are surrounded by all that grass.

Londoners can enjoy village life on the green as they can quench their thirst with the quintessential summer drink, Pimms, which is available from the Cafe on the Square. Special picnic boxes are also available to take away, making the Trafalgar Square village green experience even more authentic.

And for those that like their picnics with a little more oompf, the Trafalgar Hotel has a range of luxury hampers on sale. Complete with delicious treats such as salmon and a selection of cheeses, the hampers can be enjoyed on the urban village green with as much picnic finesse as is possible when cutting food on your lap whilst avoid grass stains on your trousers.

Open all day to be sat on, eaten on, played games on and generally treated as if it were the grass on your own front lawn, the Trafalgar Square village green is open from Thursday 24th to Friday 25th May.
