On Saturday 6th December 2008 the West End will be transformed into a huge car-free pedestrian shopping extravaganza in the Traffic Free Shopping Day London event. For only the third time in London's history the whole of Oxford Street and Regent Street will be closed to traffic for a day of entertainment, shopping and festivities. After considerable success in the previous two years traffic free shopping returns again this year.
Very Important PedestriansEntitled VIP (Very Important Pedestrians), the Traffic Free Shopping Day London event promises to be a day of hassle free shopping for Londoners. There will be lots of entertainment on show including a range of VIP treats, celebrity appearances and the very best live music.
Live entertainmentThe Traffic Free Shopping Day will feature live street entertainment, with a selection of performers taking to the streets in festive style. Expect a vibrant, upbeat day of shopping in one of London's most popular shopping districts.
The freedom to shopWe all know how busy the West End can get in the Christmas shopping season and it’s a bit of an understatement to say that the pavements can get crowded during peak shopping hours. In the Traffic Free Shopping Day London event the entire West End shopping district will be exclusively for pedestrians, with no road traffic at all on the day.
Christmas shoppingLondoners can go on the hunt for stocking fillers at the Traffic Free Shopping Day London event and gear up for Christmas 2008 in style. With no cars, buses or taxis to worry about you can go from shop to shop in ease and worry about the serious business of gift hunting.

The Wildcats at Disney StoreThe 2007 Traffic Free Shopping Day also had a high octane pep rally as the High School Musical tour bus rode along Oxford Street with a vibrant party involving dance routines, tracks from the films and Wildcats Basketball skills. There were five performances at Vere Street, just off Oxford Street and near the Disney Store. There was also loads more fun inside the Disney Store, including karaoke, goodie bags and more.
