Trash Fash Shop Exhibition

Trash Fash Shop Exhibition

When

10th Sept - 23rd Sept 2007

Where

Various locations

Highlighting the increasing need for green technology in the fashion industry, an unusual Trash Fash shop exhibition is on display in the flagship stores of some renowned fashion shops in the West End. Showing as part of the London Fashion Week events across the city, the Trash Fash shop exhibition is a chance for fashionistas to see some of the most creative use of rubbish, ever.

Londoners will be treated to the sight of coat hanger jewellery, plastic bag bodices and skirts makde from wrapping tape in the shop windows, as the imaginative outfits have been created by the shops star stylists. Made from each of the individual shop's recycled materials, the articles on display in the Trash Fash shop exhibition are unique to each store and display the wealth of imagination that goes into fashion design and creativity.

Inspiring for fashionistas and for those with a mind for being green, the trash exhibition reminds us all that every item that we throw away could have the potential for being reused, reworked or recycled. These striking garments are not just about being stylish and cutting edge, they represent the power of the fashion industry to change the way we think about rubbish.

Unveiled to shoppers at the start of September's London Fashion Week, the recycled garments are on show in several of the best known shops in London until the 23rd September. Three miles of Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street is participating in the Trash Fash shop exhibition with well known brands like House of Fraser, John Lewis, Playboy, Austin Reed, Timberland and Wedgwood all exhibiting the trash fashion in their windows.

Inspiration for the recycled clothing on display in the exhibition comes from a variety of sources as different designers have put their rubbish to different uses. Woven plastic, bunny costumes, punk and nu rave styles, and vibrant colours all combine to make a classic fashion show of inspirational costumes, with a message that recycling and reusing does not have to be dull.

Looking at how we can help with green issues and still have fun with design and fashion, the Trash Fash shop exhibition is a fun and clever way to mark the start of a new season of fashion and to celebrate another successful London Fashion Week.
