Pedal power
If the thought of starting your Olympic journey on a crowded tube train just doesn't appeal, you can always choose to travel to the London 2012 Olympic Games on foot or by bicycle. There are six greenway walking and cycling routes into the Olympic Park, including Lea Valley North, Hackney Parks, Victoria Park and Stepney, Limehouse Cut, Epping Forest and the Elevated Greenway, and there is also free cycling parking at the Northern Spectator Transport Mall, Southern Spectator Transport Mall and Victoria Park.
Safe journey
In order to ensure you have a safe and relatively stress-free journey, make sure you plan your travel to the London 2012 Olympic Games and make provisions for your return journey home, too. Remember that the public transport network will be much busier than usual, and this added to the airport style security and ticket checks that will be in place at the Games means that you should leave plenty of extra time for your journey.
Coach and river services
In addition to the tube and rail network, those lucky enough to get tickets to the Olympic Games also have the choice of booking coach tickets for direct travel to the Olympic Park, ExCeL and Greenwich Park. In addition, Olympic venues such as Greenwich Park, the North Greenwich Arena, The Royal Artillery Barracks and Horse Guards Parade are also accessible by boat. A 2012 Games river bus express will run a commuter style service along the Thames throughout the Olympics and Paralympic Games.
