I have to say I was very surprised when I recently paid my first visit to Troxy. I am not one to normally write reviews but I just feel that a lot of the feedback received is unfair as my experience was a great one!

Not only did I find the staff far more friendly than most of your west end events spaces and unlike the O2 you can actually smoke outside when there is an event on (thank god for that!)

It is nice to see that places like Troxy are around trying to change the way that venues are run as to be honest it was one of the best nights out I have not felt so welcomed and at home in a venue before with the staff being so polite and efficient without the sir attitude you often get.

I would recommend this venue over any other gig venue in London as at least here you will be treated with respect and not told that if you smoke outside then you are not coming back in!

Good job guys now get some main acts in as I would travel the distance to see a show here it is well worth it!

I can't believe some of the comments from the other reviewers. I have been fortunate enough to go to two different events at Troxy in the last few months, and both times were brilliant. PJ Harvey played there and then there was a Libertines screening.

I live in East London and wish this venue was used more rather than having to trek across to west London the whole time. There are very few large venues in east London, let alone cool ones like this.

The art deco interior is not 'tacky' it's original. Both nights I went the staff were very friendly, and exactly as I would expect for any venue looking after the safety of 1000s of people. The drinks were cheaper than a lot of other chain venues I go to too.

Troxy was a complete surprise to me and so much easier to get to than many other large venues, including the 02. I say 'cheers' to the Troxy, and hope more mainstream stuff gets booked there.

I completely disagree with all of the former reviews. Troxy is a great venue. I have been there twice recently for pj Harvey and Beady Eye and have been impressed both times. The venue is well laid out, with great views of the stage from the back of the circle. The art deco interior and decoration in the main hall are really cool. I have just seen online that the venue is listed, so I'm not sure how that anyone can think that original means tacky. I didnt have any problems with security on either night, and found them to be friendly, even when the liam gallagher crowd were at their rowdiest. The sound was really good on both nights, which is one of the most important things at a concert after all. Roll on the next gig at Troxy I say. I'd much rather go to limehouse than greenwich or west london any night of the week!

this is a horrid venue. went there to see the African music awards, which was an absolute disaster. Now thats another story so I am just going to stick to the venue...first the location is a bit scary. limehouse is the nearest station and its dark isolated and looks like something out of gotham city.

then the security are just plain rude. no manners at all. there was a misunderstanding with my friend and the security guard instead if remaining professional went all 'rude boy' like a 15 year old schoolboy talking about disrepect and attitude and honour.

the interior is so tacky as well..it is bad art deco with horid disco lights and a manky stage. and then it was freezing! i mean it was the same temp as it was outside and yesterday it was like 3 degrees!

almost everyone apart from the people who were die hard 'i must show some flesh' had their jackets on. and even with my jacket i was still freezing and wondering were my feet were. all in all i would not recommend this venue at all..giving this venue 1 cos I couldnt give it a 0! stay away. you have been warned.

seemed pretty good art deco to me - and security civilised bunch too - not sure why it is necessary to queue all round the block because they cant get their act together and open the doors on time - had it been raining people would have been seething - that might be a test of the security guys patience

but beware of so called restricted view circle seats - unless you are either very tall have a scholarly interest in art deco metal work. You might imagine promotors would not have the nerve to charge the same price as for seats with a proper view of the stage - but you'd be wrong !

just read your review, the staff sound like they are awful. Actually I just called them to have some information about the show tonight, the man I had on the phone sounded very annoyed by my inquiries! I'm gonna have a great night...I hate people working in concert venues like this, they're real chavs and look disgusting.
