This production of The Tsarinas Slippers features an all-Russian cast and is the first time the opera has ever been shown at the Royal Opera House.

Although many Tchaikovsky fans know him best for the stunning scores that accompany shows like The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, his stage works are every bit as impressive, with The Tsarinas Slippers being perhaps the best of all. It tells a captivating tale of fairytale and comedy, based on a Christmas tale by Gogol where Vakula the blacksmith flies on the Devil’s back to request the Tsarinas slippers in order to win the heart of Oxana, his beloved.

This production of The Tsarinas Slippers takes place at one of the capital’s most sumptuous venues, the stunning Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The venue will welcomes a huge cast of singers, dancers and actors including the Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera itself, as Alastair Marriot choreographs Olga Guryakova and Viktoria Yastrebova who’ll be sharing the lead in what promises to be one of the highlights on the arts calendar.
