The Turner Prize at Tate Britain returns for 2010 with an exhibition of works from a selection of shortlisted artists. Art fans can see who’s nominated for one of the biggest prizes in the art world before the winner is decided in December.

Turner Prize at Tate Britain
A collection of new and recent works from four shortlisted artists are on display at the Tate Britain from October 2010 - January 2011, giving visitors the chance to see what’s new in the world of cutting edge contemporary art. The shortlisted Turner Prize artists for 2010 are Dexter Dalwood, Angela de la Cruz, Susan Philipsz and the Otolith Group.

New for 2010
Established in 1984, the Turner Prize exists to highlight developments in contemporary art and raise the profile of new and upcoming artists in the UK. The total prize fund is £40,000 this year, with £25,000 going to the overall winner and £5,000 each going to the three runners up.

A history of controversy with the Turner Prize
Past Turner Prize winners include Damien Hirst with Mother and Child Divided, Tracey Emin with My Bed and Chris Ofili with The Virgin Mary. Many of these artists have attracted controversy over subject matter, artistic merit and materials used, which include a soiled bed, elephant dung, and a halved cow in formaldehyde.

Highlight works in Turner Prize 2010
The exhibition for the Turner Prize at Tate Britain in 2010 features a selection of work from the four nominees: Dexter Dalwood, Angela de la Cruz, Susan Philipsz and the Otolith Group. Highlights of the show include the Death of David Kelly by Dexter Dalwood, Ready to Wear by Angela de la Cruz, Lowlands Glasgow International by Susan Philipsz, and A Long Time Between Suns (part 1) by the Otolith Group. Drawings, sculptures, films and paintings and other mediums have all represented in the previous exhibitions.

Who won?
The winner of the 2010 Turner Prize is Susan Philpsz, the first artist working in sound to be awarded the prize. The winner was announced at Tate Britain on Monday 6th December 2010, during a live television broadcast shown on Channel 4.

The Turner Prize at Tate Britain exhibition runs from Tuesday 5th October 2010 – Sunday 2nd January 2011. Gallery opening times are 10am - 5.45pm daily. The winner of the Turner Prize 2010 is Susan Philipz, and was announced on Monday 6th December 2010.

Tickets for the Turner Prize at Tate Britain exhibition cost £8.00. Admission is free for Tate members, patrons and individual children under 12 years old when accompanied by an adult.
