Born out of the ashes of the now sadly departed Rise Festival, the brand new UpRise Festival London event takes over Finsbury Park for a day of live music and DJ sets that celebrate the capital's multicultural heritage.

From Rise to UpRise
Continuing to spread the anti-racism message of the former Rise Festival, the UpRise Festival London event returns to Rise's spiritual home of Finsbury Park for a day packed full of dynamic music and live performances. Celebrating all the diverse cultures and ethnic groups that make London what it is, the festival promises to be an inclusive affair for all manner of music lovers.

DJ sets
Afrobeat expert Rita Ray is just one of the DJs who will be keeping the crowd dancing at the inaugural UpRise Festival. London lovers of contemporary world music are also in for a treat, as BBC London DJ Ritu is also taking to the decks for the festival, while live music comes courtesy of glamorous soul singer Imaani.

Live performances
Other live acts taking to the UpRise Festival London stage include singer songwriter Natty, as well as up and coming reggae, hip hop and pop talent Jimmy Screech. 12-tone pioneers United Vibrations will be entertaining the crowd with their own unique blend of jazz and punk, and other acts on the lineup include Nathan Flutebox Lee, Sanchita Farruque, Ty, Yaaba Funk and many more.

Not just music
As well as the enviable musical lineup, the first ever UpRise also features art exhibitions, charismatic speakers, a licensed bar and delicious food for you to enjoy throughout the day. Better yet, the event is completely free to attend, so rock up to Finsbury Park on 3rd October and prepare for a day full of multicultural fun.

The UpRise Festival London event takes place at Finsbury Park from 12.30pm - 7.30pm, Sunday 3rd October 2010. Admission is free.
