Where
South Bank foreshore by Gabriel's Wharf
The South Bank by Gabriel's Wharf is home to the urban beach London attraction, bringing a slice of seaside cheer to the capital this summer. With sand and plenty of seaside entertainment, the foreshore is being transformed into a complete beach haven. Sunglasses at the ready…
Sun and sand
There’s nothing quite like the feel of the sun on your face and sand between your toes and you don’t have to book a holiday to get the experience of relaxing in balmy weather this year. The urban beach London event features plenty of live entertainment, bound to be popular with kids and adults alike, and takes place as part of the 2010 Thames Festival.
Thames Festival
A beach revolution in London
The beach by The Thames follows hot on the heels of a similar free attraction on the South Bank earlier on in the year, proving that you don't need to fork out on travel to a far flung land to enjoy a slice of seasonal fun. Destined to attract Londoners of all ages, the South Bank beach is also hosting plenty of live entertainment.
Summer 2010 at the urban beach London
A series of events are being planned for the beach, with highlights including the chance to build your own sandcastle, find and decorate a pebble to take home with you, and even indulge in a spot of welly throwing. You can also take a look at the live netting demonstrations and have a look at some of the fish that live in the River Thames.
The urban beach London attraction can be found on the South Bank foreshore by Gabriel's Wharf. Nearest tube: Waterloo
The beach is open from 10am - 2pm, Sunday 12th September 2010. Entry to the beach is free.
