Join Ms Dynamite and the BBC Symphony Orchestra for the Urban Classic at Barbican, which throws classical musicians and leading artists from the UK's urban music scene together for one night of thrilling music.

BBC Symphony Orchestra
Taking place as part of the Music Nation weekend, the Urban Classic at Barbican features the premiere of new arrangements by Ayanna Witter-Johnson and Jason Yarde, performed with the help of the accomplished musicians from the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Founded back in 1930, the BBC Symphony Orchestra especially champions 20th century and contemporary music, and this fresh and forward thinking approach makes it the perfect counterpart to the lineup of urban music talent appearing on the programme.

Urban music
Alongside Ms Dynamite, other urban music stars contributing to the Urban Classic at Barbican concert include Fazer, Devlin and Skepta. The BBC Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Jules Buckley, who has also worked with Basement Jaxx and the Metropole Orchestra, making him well versed in the fields of classical music and contemporary urban genres.

Music Nation
The Barbican Hall concert is part of a series of year long celebrations that tie into the London 2012 Festival, which serves as the cultural partner to the Olympic Games. Urban Classic at Barbican is also part of the BBC's Music Nation festival, which unites orchestras, choirs and concert halls across the UK for one weekend of musical celebrations.
