The V&A Village Fete takes over the monthly Friday Late event at the Victoria and Albert Museum with a range of quirky and unusual stalls, plenty of fun and games, and an unusual array of designers. Try your hand at the helium karaoke, the Bada Bingo or win a golden beard in the Beard Tent.

Kicking off on Friday night from 6.30pm and carrying on on Saturday afternoon from 1pm, you can get your fill of village fete antics in the heart of the city with the V&A Village Fete 2008. Free activities and goodies to take home will bring a smile to even the hardest of fete goers hearts, and there is also great fun in store for kids on the Saturday as they can make and decorate canvas bags or help Preistman Goode find things to make out of rubbish.

Feel like village fetes are too "country" for you? Fear not, the V&A Village Fete is right up to date with the most advanced fete style entertainments. Enjoy the likes of Ball of Fete pinball, throw rings onto the fingers of Tatty Devine's hands, or bag yourself a Lady Luck gingham rosette. Take part in a race to free battery hens, meet up with your mates through Fetebook, or find love for the summer with the Household Dinner Dating Machine, and you won't be leaving the fete alone.

Not just for grownups, the V&A Village Fete extends onto Saturday afternoon too, with plenty of kid friendly games. Creative children (or anarchists) will love the chance to take part in some V&A fete style topiary as the Anarchy in the English Country Garden crew let you lose on their immaculately trimmed hedges. Grab a mini circular saw and get chopping!

Along with the chance to pose for a classic village fete postcard or dress up in the House of Shadows Silhouette Portrait Tent, there will be live music from the Prints of Whales on Friday night, and for the adventurous a chance to do the breast or jelly blindfold test.

Get yourself a fake Gypsy style tattoo in the Tattoo Off, throw your mug shot mug at a tree to win sweets, or simply marvel in wonder at the Not Actual Size Airshow. Crammed with peculiar but oddly enticing activities for adults and kids, the V&A Village Fete is sure to be the toast of the summer fete calendar in London.

The V&A Village Fete takes place on Friday 25th July from 6.30pm to 10pm, and on Saturday 26th July from 1pm to 5pm. The Village Fete Saturday event is more suitable for children.
