Went here for dinner last night with 3 friends. One of my friends had visited previously and tried the taster menu. She recommended it and was excited about going back. Oh dear! Everyone's food was bland and tasteless, although very well presented (huge plate with little food in the middle). Presentation doesn't mean much if it doesn't taste good. We were impressed by the bar and decor so my hope for the food was pretty high. Service was OK but took quite a few attempts to get the bill. Would probably never go back though. Quite pricey for what it is.We all left hungry.
Hired an area at Vanilla Bar for our engagement party. It s a beautiful bar and everyone loved it. Decor is gorgeous and cocktails are superb! Good value for money, staff are excellent and great atmosphere with nice selection of music from the DJ. Will definately be going back and would recommend it for private events or even just a romantic drink for two! Loved it!
We had the taster menu - all beautifully presented, some highly delicious (e.g. a very simple but stunningly tasty tomato salad) and some interesting but less delicious (new potatoes in a layer of edible clay with aioli - tasted OK but dried up the palate like a cream cracker) to the dramatic foaming strawberry milk shake with strawberries and meringue - impressive to look at but not as yummy as an Eton mess-type dish. Really good cocktails - they should be at the price (about £8.50 upwards)!
The waiting staff were friendly and helpful - a surprising contrast to the stark decor. Enjoyed it, but not sure I'd go there again.
Fab food, excellent service, reasonable prices and amazing decor - my firm favourite restaurant in London
This bar is a refreshing gem away from all the tourist'y riff-raff in the West End.
5 girlfriends and I went there last Friday with and the atmosphere was just perfect. The cocktails are made by the in-house mixologist who is a former world champion, and I really recommend the one made with chilli pepper! Despite being busy, the staff was genuinely friendly and chatty which is a real surprise in a London bar these days. The interior is gorgeous and funky, the bartender even changed the colour of the lighting on our request ("pink, please") - this place isn't pretentious at all, maybe some people just aren't used to a bar that's thoroughly cool, yet inexpensive and cordial.
Wow, what a funky place; very cool blue and pink lighting in a chic designed bar and restaurant.
I enjoyed an excellent dinner on Thursday evening at Vanilla, the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and the food was excellent. They have a great wine list which is sensibly priced. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked halibut dish and my boyfriend said his lamb was the best he ever had. We shared a chocolate fondant which was to die for. This is a great place to spend a night out. I am going next week with some girlfriends to try cocktails in the bar.
I went to this establishment and was told this was one of the best places to get great cocktails but I was very unhappy with the service of the management and the staff of this bar. They were very rude and did not respect that anyone from outside this side of London would be able to pay for these kind of s*#t cocktails.
Please do not go here. This place is not fun. It is a place for pretentious idiots, with no sense of fun.
Vanilla is a beautiful venue. There were 7 of us for dinner and we were all impressed by the food and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful.
