VAULT at Old Vic Tunnels

From reworked classic films to late night clubbing and immersive theatre, VAULT at Old Vic Tunnels is a three week festival that showcases the talents of a diverse mix of performing arts companies. Head underground for comedy, cabaret, live music, tarot readings and even a spot of shadow puppetry.

The classics rebooted
Highlights of the VAULT at Old Vic Tunnels programme include Kindle Theatre's production of The Furies (pictured), which reworks the ancient legend of Clytemnestra with a heavy metal soundtrack. There's also a unique rendition of Puccini's La Boheme from Silent Opera, where the sounds from a full symphony orchestra, chorus and cast of opera singers are beamed straight to your headphones, leaving you free to roam the dramatic scenes in which a cast of characters act out the story.

Hammer horrors
Also taking place as part of VAULT at Old Vic Tunnels is a special collaboration between Hammer and The Flicker Club. The event resurrects classic horrors such as Dracula and Frankenstein Created Woman, and juxtaposes them with 21st century counterparts such as Let Me In and The Woman in Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe. Expect a few surprise special guests who will be reading from the film's source material before each screening.

Lates music
Meanwhile, live music fans of all tastes are catered for during the six nights of Lates. VAULT at Old Vic Tunnels is hosting everything from a night of live folk and bluegrass to DJ sets recreating a vintage dance party with funk, soul, reggae and rock 'n' roll all thrown into the mix. There's also the welcome return of the B-Movie Ball, which fuses live bands with B-movie screenings, dancers, tarot readers and champagne prizes for the best fancy dress costume.

Live performances
Other events taking place as part of the VAULT Festival include four short plays presented by the Nabokov theatre company, which includes a new work by Jessica Hynes and a performance by The Fitzrovia Radio Hour. There's also biting comedy from the Pangolin's Teatime shadow puppets, circus, theatre and projection from The Wonder Club and cabaret entertainment from Baxter's Basement.

VAULT at Old Vic Tunnels takes place from Thursday 9th February - Sunday 26th February 2012.
