Kicking off the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, a vetercan car auction at Bonhams gives you the chance to be in on the race as you could drive home in one of those very special vehicles.
Ten veteran cars will go under the hammer at the Bonhams auction, along with period related memorabilia such as posters, postcards, bulb horns, badgdes, ceramics and jewellery. But the real stars of the show are the veteran cars, especially as two of the cars on sale is up for auction with a pre booked entry space in the London to Brighton run on Sunday.
A chance for any classic and veteran car lovers to take part in the longest running car race in the world with their brand new car, the veteran car auction at Bonhams is also a unique chance to see these amazing vehicles up close. As the cars taking part in the London to Brighton run line up on the Regent Street concours on Saturday, you can get a look at the other veteran models in town at the New Bond Street show rooms before the sale on Friday.
Last year the oldest car on sale in the veteran car auction at Bonhams was the 1899 Marshall two seater Phaeton from the Potter Collection. It was a two speed, five horse power engine car which cost £210.00 when it was new, with third and reverse gears an optional extra at £10.00 each. The Marshall is fully restored and was expected to fetch between £80,000 and £100,000. You can be sure that more fine veteran cars will be up for grabs again this year.
The fifth year of the veteran car auction at Bonhams in conjunction with the London to Brighton car run, this year's sale sees the largest number of pre 1905 vehicles being sold since 2004. Given that two of the cars are being sold with pre race entry already booked in, this could be the year that many Londoners decide to bid on not only a fantastic veteran car, but also the chance to take place in this classic car race.
