If you didn't make it out to Goodwood last year then fear not, as the Vintage Festival at Southbank Centre brings the brainchild of designers Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway right into the centre of London. The South Bank will be coming to life with retro inspired fashion, art and culture.
Vintage on the South Bank
Transporting the award winning Vintage at Goodwood festival to the South Bank for one weekend during the summer of 2011, the Vintage Festival at Southbank Centre promises plenty of retro fashion, music, film, art and design from the 1920s all the way up to the 1980s. The festival is curated by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway, the design duo behind clothing label Red or Dead.
Retro style
Promising a vintage wonderland for lovers of 20th century popular culture, the Vintage Festival at Southbank Centre features live music, DJ sets, club nights, film screenings, over 200 vintage fashion stalls, dance lessons and interactive workshops. Keep an eye out, too, for Thames boat parties, makeovers and plenty of festival goers dressed in their best frocks; there's even the chance to show off your unique style by taking a turn on the Vintage Catwalk.
Get dancing
Regardless of whether you feel inspired to do the jive during an afternoon event or want to throw some shapes at an '80s inspired warehouse party, there's plenty of chances to get out on the dancefloor during the festival. Other highlights include screenings of public information films and 20th century classics by the BFI, screenings of Ealing comedies on board a 1960s bus and three Vintage Revues featuring everything from soul music to electronica.

Wristbands for Vintage grant the wearer access to the Royal Festival Hall, which has been given a full makeover for the festival. The iconic venue has been transformed into a six level playground featuring everything from vintage fashion stalls and makeover booths to exclusive DJ sets and catwalk shows.
Free events
Meanwhile, a number of free events are taking place outside the Southbank Centre. Browse the 250 stalls of the Vintage Marketplace, take part in sandwich tossing and umbrella jousting at The Chap Olympiad and snack on food with a retro twist at the Vintage Food Market.
