A Vivienne Westwood shoes exhibition London event takes place at the end of summer as Selfridges celebrates the iconic British designer and her fetish for footwear. Renowned for creating several classic fashion pieces through her Red and Gold labels over the last four decades, the Grande Dame of British fashion invites you to step into her shoes.

Vivienne Westwood Shoes exhibition
London has been home to several exhibitions of her fashion over the years, but this exhibition of shoes, entitled Vivienne Westwood Shoes: An Exhibition 1973 - 2010 is the very first to centre solely on footwear. Having been seen in Italy and Brazil previously, this is the first time the show has come to London. Taking you from the early days of her punk orientated design right up to the present day, this is a unique chance for any fan to see a selection of stunning designs on show.

Iconic footwear
Taking place in Selfridges Ultralounge, the Vivienne Westwood Shoes exhibition showcases nearly 200 shoes from the designers archive, along with some from her special collaboration with cult rubber designer Melissa. Focusing on her history as an exceptional designer who challenges the normal rules for wearability and convention, the exhibition invites you to survey the more creative side of shoe design.

Distinctive design
From the 1981 Pirate Boot, which is still in demand today, to the 15.5cm heeled erotic Mary Janes, Vivienne Westwood shoes are not just items of footwear, they are design classics. On show in the Vivienne Westwood Shoes exhibition are several well known pieces such as the 1986 Rocking Horse, the 1996 Trompe L'Oeil boot and of course the 1993 Elevated Gillie shoes which famously caused supermoderl Naomi Campbell to take a tumble on the catwalk.

The Vivienne Westwood Shoes exhibition London event takes place from 9.30am - 9pm Monday - Saturday, 12pm - 6pm Sundays, from Thursday 26th August - Wednesday 22nd September 2010 in the Selfridges Ultralounge. Entrance is free.
