Waffle Week at Fika

Eat up for the Vaffeldagen festival during waffle week at Fika, where the Swedish restaurant will be serving both sweet and savoury waffles to mark the beginning of spring. Vaffeldagen, or Waffle Day, is a popular tradition in Sweden, where waffles are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner to celebrate the end of winter and the start of the new season. Now you can join in all the fun too, with a special menu that makes the most of the golden, battered treats.

Celebrate the start of spring with a plateful of waffles with a variety of toppings, starting from £3.90 each. Choose from caramel or chocolate sauce, reindeer salami, or creamy cheese for a waffle topping, and say hello to a new season in a traditionally Swedish manner with waffle week at Fika, the Swedish restaurant on Brick Lane.

If you want to get an early start on Vaffeldagen, then you can pop in for breakfast on the weekend of waffle week at Fika between 10.30am - 1.30pm. The breakfast waffles are heart shaped, and if that isn't sweet enough for you, there's honey, cream, hand made apple sauce to add as a topping. if you fancy a slightly more savoury start to the day, there's organic egg with rocket, Swedish sausage, and sauteed mushrooms as well. Prices range from £3.50 - £6.50

Waffle week at Fika is celebrated from Monday 23rd March - Sunday 29th March 2009. Vaffeldagen itself is celebrated on Wednesday 25th March 2009. Breakfast is served from 10.30am - 1.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
