Whether it's theatre, arts and crafts or dance that moves you, there should be plenty to suit all tastes at the 2011 Wandsworth Arts Festival. Featuring drawing workshops, live acoustic music, art exhibitions and outdoors events, the 2011 festival take place at venues across Wandsworth.

Wandsworth Arts Festival
Organised by Wandsworth Council and including the contributions of local artists and community groups, the Wandsworth Arts Festival is back for 2011 with a programme of inclusive events. The festival opens on with theatre productions at the Battersea Arts Centre, where there's the chance to see new creations from the artists in residence as part of the Scratch Nights series.

Dance and art workshops
It's not all about looking at all the arts and culture on offer though; the Wandsworth Arts Festival gives you plenty of chances to get involved and take part in events. The whole family can take part in the free Shimmy butterflies workshop on Wednesdays, Thursday and Sundays, where you can make origami butterflies to be installed in the Shimmy parade. Other workshops give all ages the chance to create short dance routines on, over and around bikes, as well as make beautiful batik prints.

Activities for kids
The little ones can get involved with the festival too, with plenty of shows and arts and crafts activities on offer. One of the highlights suitable for kids is the storytelling tree at Wandsworth Museum, where kids can listen to stories, play games and get their faces painted. There's also the garden fete on Wandsworth Plain, featuring cakes, tea, stalls and art.

The Shimmy
The 2011 Wandsworth festival comes to a triumphant end on Sunday 22nd May, when the area between Putney Wharf and Wandsworth Park will be full of live performances. With storytelling, art workshops, live music, dancing and sculptural installations, the Shimmy closing gala runs from 1pm - 5pm.

The Wandsworth Arts Festival runs from Friday 6th May - Sunday 22nd May 2011 at venues across Wandsworth. Many events are free, but there are admission charges for some events. For more information, click on the link below.
