West End Live returns to Leicester Square for another year in June 2008, with a line up of performances from hit musicals and theatre shows.

West End Live 2008 is a unique theatre event that brings a selection of top productions out into the open, live in Leicester Square. This year’s event will see performances from Dirty Dancing, The Sound of Music, Chicago, Grease the Musical, Mamma Mia, Buddy, The Lord Of The Rings and Stomp, to name but a few.

Family fun all weekend
Visitors to West End Live can enjoy a range of exhibits and displays as well as the live performances. Exhibits will be on display from The Science Museum, the National Gallery, Wallace Collection, Serpentine Gallery, the British Film Institute and more, promising a weekend of interactive fun for the crowds, hosted by BBC kids presenter Justin Fletcher. Other highlights include special performances from the King Lear musicians from Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, who will be playing a selection of medieval musical instruments, and a selection of giant Lego figures that celebrate the toys 50th birthday.

Last year the event attracted some 500,000 people and this year, West End Live expected to be just as big an event. Londoners have a special opportunity to enjoy live West End theatre for free, in a high spirited, open air event. Representing theatre shows, or spectacular London events like the Notting Hill Carnival or Pride London, various different acts will be on hand to entertain all day long.

Summer fun in London
West End Live has become one of the most popular summer events in the capital, attracting thousands of children of adults to Central London each year. The crowds will be in high spirits, out to enjoy live theatre and music in the sun. Children's cinema fans will also be out in force to see highlights and preview clips of the summer's forthcoming flicks such as Prince Caspian and Kung Fu Panda.

West End Live at Leicester Square takes place on Saturday 21st June from 11am to 6pm and on Sunday 22nd June 2008 from 12 noon to 6pm. Events are free to attend.
