The Amersham Arms has created big waves since slamming onto the South London club scene in 2007. Putting New Cross on the map, this pub-cum-club, owned by the same people behind the iconic Lock Tavern in Camden, has helped to pull South London into the limelight with its edgy club nights and gigs, rivalling more established venues in places like Shoreditch. Every Friday, Whip It at Amersham Arms pulls in a big crowd thanks to its free entry.
What’s On
Whip It at Amersham Arms is named after a song by Amercian rock group Devo, which should give you a bit of an idea as to what to expect. Cocktail deals help to alleviate the pain on your wallet with cheap drink offers throughout the night boosting the benefits of the free entry. A DJ pumps out an electro and indie-edged selection of party anthems every Friday, and you can expect to be singing along in wild abandon to tunes by everyone from AC/DC to Kissy.
New Cross Clubbing
Situated on a desolate corner deep in the heart of New Cross, the Amersham Arms is one of the most popular watering holes in the area. Keeping to its chilled out South London roots, Amersham Arms looks like a traditional boozer from the front, but hides a 350-capacity gig venue at the back, and an art gallery space called Take Courage upstairs. Since opening, its continued popularity has proven that it’s not just the superclubs and academies that pull in the big crowds thanks to nights like Whip It at Amersham Arms.

Whip It at Amersham Arms takes place from 10pm-3am every Friday. Entry is free before midnight, with admission after 12am costing £2.00 for NUS card holders and £3.00 for non students.
