Nature on show
One of the most prestigious and innovative photography competitions of its kind, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition 2011 showcases the very best in photographic images of the natural world. With amazing images of wildlife including animals, birds, plants, trees, insects and the natural landscape, this exhibition is a stunning collection of the work produced by the world's best photographers.

Popular exhibition
Over 134,000 people visited the Wildlife Photographer exhibition last year, and even more are expected for this year's show. Having grown in popularity over the past 47 years, this yearly collection of beautiful photographs has now grown to have contributions from 94 different countries. The 11/12 show aims to break all previous records with larger format images housed in a bigger than ever gallery.

Photographic skill
Giving visitors an insight into the beauty, drama and variety of the natural world, the photos on show highlight the skills of the most talented photographers whilst reminding the viewer of the amazing wonder of the animals and wildlife that surrounds us. From the humble beetle to the vastness of the Grand Canyon, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition displays the achievements of the photographer in capturing a precise moment in all its glory.

Natural History Museum
The winning images are on display at the Natural History Museum until the beginning of March 2012 and are then toured around the UK and the rest of the world, allowing the photos to be seen in their native homes. With an exciting interactive installation, both kids and families can find out what the judges thought of the photos and hear from scientists and the photographers themselves about the subject matter of the photographs. Visitors to the Natural History Museum will also have the chance to vote for their own personal favourite image from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and choose from a selection of prints to take home.

Fun day out
Full of some of the most amazing photos you will ever see, the Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History Museum is a fantastic show that will be enjoyed by fans of photography as well as those fascinated by the natural world. Last year's winner was Bence Mate from Hungary, whose picture A Marvel of Ants, captured the hectic life of leaf cutter ants in the Costa Rican rainforet. The Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year prize went to Fergus Gill from Scotland, who managed to snap a photo of a fieldfare bird on a branch. This year's winners will be announced shortly - click back soon for more information.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition takes place from Friday 21st October 2011 - Sunday 11th March 2012. The gallery is open 10am - 5.5pm daily. Adult tickets are £9.00, while child tickets cost £4.50. To book your tickets in advance, click on the link below.
