When the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Tournament enjoyed its inaugural year in 1877 no one could have forseen that over a century later it would be the world's most famous tennis tournament. The Wimbledon Tennis Championships attract annual attendances of around 450,000 and a following of millions on TV and radio.

A variety of tickets for the Wimbledon Tennis Championships are available in limited numbers on the day. Tickets are on a cash only, first come first served basis, so be sure to turn up early.

History of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships
Wimbledon is one of the most famous tennis events in the world. Hundreds of thousands of people turn up from countries all around the globe, and millions who can't attend watch on TV. The very first match was played in 1877, and ever since then the Lawn Tennis Championships have turned into a hugely popular event.
