Monday 1st December is World AIDS Day 2008, and loads of charity events are going on all throughout London. According to the HPA, 42 percent of all people in the UK that were diagnosed with HIV were in London. These World AIDS Day London events will help raise awareness about the disease.

Discotec World AIDS Day Party
The End nightclub will play host to a special party event from Discotec as funds are raised at what looks set to be a fantastic charity party night. For just £10.00, half of which goes to the Terrance Higgins Trust, you can get your dancing feet down from 9pm at one of the best clubs in London, listening to a host of different DJs keeping things funky. The party takes place from 9pm on Sunday 30th November 2008.

World AIDS Day London Discussion
The Victoria and Albert Museum will be holding a lunchtime discussion of AIDS and the effects of the disease of millions of different people. So if you'd like a civilised and intriguing way of raising awareness, head down to the V&A and show your support. The discussion takes place at 1pm on Monday 1st December 2008.

Annie Leibovitz (RED) Room
Opening on Thursday 27th November just in time for World AIDS Day 2008, the National Portrait Gallery is extending their Annie Leibovitz exhibition to include a room full of images taken to promote the (RED) AIDS awareness charity set up by Bono. A portion of all sales from the opening night go towards helping the fight against AIDS in Africa. The (RED) Room is free from Friday 28th November - Thursday 4th December 2008.

Umkoshi Club Night
Raise money for the AIDS orphans of Kwa Zulu Katal in South Africa with this unusual club night. Umkoshi means Celebration in Zulu, and everyone at The Abbey will be celebrating their power to do some good on the night with DJs and entertainment for all. The Umkoshi Celebration night takes place on Saturday 29th November 2008.

Gay Mens Chorus Concert
The London Gay Mens Chorus are back once again for World AIDS Day 2008 with a concert of uplifting and celebratory music. St Pancras Church is the location for this year's concert, and all are welcome to come and show their support and enjoy the exuberant music. The concert takes place at 12.45pm on Saturday 29th November 2008.

A Concert for World AIDS Day
St Martin in the Fields will host a special concert in aid of World Aids Day London as it welcomes the acclaimed London Gay Symphony Orchestra and the Diversity Choir The concert takes place at 7.30pm on Monday 1st December 2008.

World AIDS Day Cycle Ride
More fundraising fun comes from the Southwark Cyclists as they organise their annual World AIDS Day Cycle Ride once again. A gentle ride that takes in some of the best sights around the city, this is a great way to contribute to the cause and get out and about on your bike. The cycle ride takes place from 9am on Sunday 30th November 2008.

Double Club
Head to Double Club in Islington for not only a quality club, but a restaurant and bar too. London's very first pop up club, the Double is only here for six months and a percentage of all its proceeds got to the UNICEF charity City of Joy, which assists rape victims in the Congo and those that contract AIDS.

Frontline Club Debate
The journalists's club invites you to hear from an expert panel on the future of AIDS across the world. Asking if we have seen the worst of it's effects will be a panel of scientists, journalists and community activists. The debate takes place on Monday 1st December 2008.

Live street art
Marking the launch of the HIV charity NAM's website, a day of live street art takes place outside DV8 on Old Compton Street on World AIDS Day. From 8am - 2pm, Paintshop Studio will be creating art that will be auctioned off to help raise money for the charity. The street art takes place on Monday 1st Decembre 2008.
