World City Music Village Festival

Discover all the sizzling beats and vibrant sounds world music has to offer at the World City Music Village festival. Taking up residence in Hyde Park, Victoria Park and a variety of different venues across the city, the roaming festival embraces everything from Colombian salsa to Ghanaian Afro-beats.

Musical tour of the world
With a diverse mix of music from across the globe to enjoy for free, the World City Music Village festival is bound to attract huge crowds of live music lovers. Held over 12 days at venues across the city, the festival features everything from soca and calypso to Judeo-Balkan dance music fusions and classical violinists from Egypt.

Victoria Park
The first weekend of the World City Music Village festival sees the event come to Victoria Park for two days of music and dance from around the world. Highlights include Irish singer songwriter Terence O'Flaherty, Cuban big band Chacon Y Su Timba, Balkan and Middle Eastern dance music from Mukka, gypsy string music from Romany Diamonds and Jamaican Muslim rappers Poetic Pilgrimage.

Museums and galleries
As well as the big open air events, the World City Music Village festival also features a number of one off gigs and talks at museums and galleries across London. The Museum of London, October Gallery, Horniman Museum and London Transport Museum are all hosting special events, from workshops for kids to evening concerts.

Hyde Park
The climax of the World City Music Village festival comes at the free open air concert at Hyde Park. Get moving to salsa and merengue from the Panache Steelband, Congolese Latin dance beats from Grupo Lokito and Kurdish, Anatolian and Turkish music from Anatolia over a weekend of festival fun.

The World City Music Village festival runs from Wednesday 30th June - Sunday 11th July 2010.

The festival at Victoria Park is open from 1pm - 9pm, Saturday 3rd July - Sunday 4th July 2010. The festival at Hyde Park is open from 1pm - 9pm, Saturday 10th July - Sunday 11th July 2010. Both events are free to attend.
