Billed as the Worlds Biggest Christmas Shopping Day, the West End traffic free event on Oxford Street and Regent Street sees pedestrians reclaim the streets to snap up some of the best shopping promotions and special offers during the festive season.

VIP shopping
Aimed at VIPs, or Very Important Pedestrians, the Worlds Biggest Christmas Shopping Day features live entertainment, in-store events and much more throughout Oxford Street and Regent Street. Cars and other vehicles are barred from the streets, giving shoppers the chance to spread out from the busy pavements without having to keep an eye out for traffic.

Christmas event
If you've still got a fair amount of Christmas shopping to do or are looking for the perfect outfit for your festive parties, then the Worlds Biggest Christmas Shopping Day might be one of the best places to start looking. Selfridges, John Lewis, Tommy Hilfiger and River Island are just some of the stores laying on special events and promotions throughout the day, with plenty of other big names such as House of Fraser, Jaeger and Marks & Spencer joining in too.

Free treats
While shopping might be the name of the game at the Worlds Biggest Christmas Shopping Day, the West End traffic free event also has plenty of freebies to tempt you into the shops. Godiva are serving up fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate, there's mulled wine and mince pies available at Ted Baker, and pink Champagne and sweets at La Senza.

Feast your eyes
Get in the mood for the pantomime season at Selfridges with Christopher Biggins and pop up panto plays from the New Wimbledon Theatre. The Marmite pop up shop on the Quadrant Arcade is hosting a tea party in its window, and kids can also meet some of their favourite characters at Hamleys.

The Worlds Biggest Christmas Shopping Day runs from 12pm - 9pm, Saturday 5th December 2009. Oxford Street and Regent Street will be closed to the public throughout the event. Admission is free.
