With live music, comedy and passionate debate, the WOW Women of the World Festival takes over the Southbank Centre with three days of special events by and for women.

International Women's Day
Taking place on and around International Women's Day on 8th March, the WOW Women of the World Festival celebrates the achievements of women across the world while highlighting the need for greater equality. The Southbank Centre conference combines live music concerts and film screenings with one off events such as speed mentoring and debates.

Live music
Highlights of the live music line up at the WOW Women of the World Festival includes the EQUALS Live concert for International Women's Day, as well as a special concert by Sinead O'Connor, in which the celebrated Irish artist performs songs from her new album, How About I Be Me (And You Be You)? More live music comes courtesy of Emmy The Great, Sarah Gillespie and Annie Lennox.

Bird's Eye View film event
Also taking place as part of the WOW Women of the World Festival is a Sound and Silents showcase hosted by the Bird's Eye View team, which celebrates female filmmakers. The event celebrates screen icon and early movie mogul Mary Pickford, and features three of her silent films - The New York Hat, The Female of the Species and Amarilly of Clothes-Line Alley - set to live performances of new scores by contemporary female composers.

Comedy and more
The grand finale of the Southbank Centre's WOW Women of the World Festival sees Sandi Toksvig host a special event at the Royal Festival Hall. Join Jo Brand and an all-woman orchestra for the Mirth Control: March of the Women event, featuring comedy, music and stories inspired by great women.

The WOW Women of the World Festival takes place from Wednesday 7th March - Sunday 11th March 2012. Ticket prices vary. For more information and to book tickets for specific events, click on the link below.
